360° views of Greek Institutions

"In the summer of 2024, members of the Istanpolis team began the first phase of an initiative that aims to document the built environment of Istanbul’s Greek Orthodox communities by capturing 360° views of these spaces. The monuments located in the old city of Istanbul’s historic peninsula were our primary focus, including a wide variety of places such as congregational churches, monasteries, shrines, schools, and cemeteries. We used 360° cameras to create a series of 3D views of both the interior and exterior of each site, allowing for an immersive experience of spaces that in many cases have never been imaged in this way.

Special thanks to the Duckworth Scholars Studio at Temple University for lending the Istanpolis team equipment for this project, and to the student team members who undertook the majority of the 360° photography: Yasmine Kaki, Lara Oge, and Aliosha Bielenberg."
